Starting Out
You will start the game with one friendly spell (a buff); and one hostile spell at level 1, which you will use to “nuke” your enemies for the first few levels.
In a short time you may find yourself have been joined in combat by a "Frozen Hatred" pet which is a the Necromancer's reward for performing a spell fatality. Although Frozen Hatred is a fairly powerful pet but it only lasts for a short time.
Upon hitting level 2, you will receive your second hostile spell. You will not receive further spells until you reach level 5.
Once you achieve level 5 the fun really begins for the Necromancer. At level 5 you will receive a couple of new spells, including your first Undead Minion (pet) called "Mutilator". At level 5 you may have two pets at any given time to assist you in combat.
Solo Encounters
As a Necromancer, before the NPC sees you, you can gain a slight combat advantage by casting your first spell. It will easy to get in your first try because many of the spells have a large range attached to them.
When fighting a single target, you are best to use your single target spells, as they cast quickly and refresh quickly too.
When battling more than one NPC or player, the area of effect (AOE) spells will do heavy damage to all enemies in your vicinity, but also take much longer to cast than single target spells.
Boss Encounters
When you join in a combat and deal with groups that have a “boss”, some players prefer to kill Boss NPC first, because it usually has the most hit points and damage rating. While other players deal with the “BOSS” last and quickly dispense with the lesser minions. In case you own your pets at disposal, target the NPC you want to kill first and then send your pet in and use AOE spells on the group of other enemies.
Spells and Stats
Most of the Necromancer's spells include both a hit of one-shot damage, as well as damage over time (DOT). If you are killing one NPC at a time and it is closed to death, then you want to switch over to battling another one with higher health and hope the first one would die from your damage over time.If both NPCs die within a very short time of each other, you will be recognized for the chain kill and will receive extra experience.
Do remember that because you are not capable of taking large amount of damage, as a solo Necromancer, your aim is to kill the enemies ASAP.
Make sure that you put maximum points into your "Concentration" skill so that you will be less likely to get interrupted when casting a spell. If you begin seeing a lot of interrupt messages, then you definitely need to beef up your Concentration as soon as possible. You can bring up the "Skills and Attributes" screen by hitting "P" on your keyboard.
In order to increase the intelligence rating, in most MMOs Mages watch for gear that increase their intelligence rating. The higher your Intelligence, the harder your nukes should hit and the larger your mana pool should be. But in Age of Conan PvP, many players believe work on your health points, evade and immunity is much better.
Necromancer Feats
You will begin to collect Feat points at level 10,when you reach milestone levels at a rate of one point per level and bonus points. You have three Feat trees in which you may put points into. Feats will definitely increase the damage of your spells or your Undead Minions. Additionally, some feats will increase your personal resistance to certain types of damage, and others will even provide you with a new spell exclusive to the Feats system. You can see available Necromancer Feats and plan your points out using the Age of Conan Vault Feats Calculator.
