Applied to the characters, all Age of Conan have a set of basic AOC skills, not limited to perception, bandaging, renew mana, casting concentration, hiding, climbing and taunt. You will get a small amount of points you can distribute freely between these different skills whenever you gain a new level. But the AOC skills do not increase through use.

Below are some of the skills available in Age of Conan.

Bandaging: Allows you to regenerate health faster while resting.

Fast Healing: Add a chance to double your bandaging rate.

Recovery: Allows you to regenerate stamina faster while resting.

Fast Recovery: Add a chance to double your recovery rate.

Renew mana: Allows you to regenerate mana faster while resting.

Mana Attractor : Add a chance to double your Renew Mana rate.

Casting Concentration: Determines how prone you are to having your spell cancelled when casting. For instance, being attacked causes distraction.

Endurance: Reduces the stamina cost of sprinting on foot and horseback.

Run Speed: Improves out of combat movement speed on foot and horseback. Approximately one percent per one hundred points.

Skulking: Improves movement speed whilst hidden.

Climbing: Determines the difficulty of objects you can climb.

Hiding: In the world of Hyboria everybody can hide a little, making you difficult to spot. Not everyone is equally as good at it, though!

Perception: How well you observe the environment around you, for instance noticing hidden enemies or possibly even traps.

Taunt: The higher your skill is in taunting, the greater chance you have in increasing the hate value of your attack. Perfect for tank characters.

Compared with Age of Conan strategies, some skills are based on so-called clickable abilities, meaning they must be activated by clicking on an icon on your hotbar. This includes, for instance, the perception Age of Conan skill. This skill or AOC Strategy will always work in the background and notify you about certain things such as hidden enemies. But if you get a message saying you’re detecting something, you have to use the clickable ability to try and reveal the hidden enemies. Others are passive skills, such as the taunt skill or the casting concentration AOC skill.

You will notice that you do not improve weapon skills. Your class determines what weapons you can use, and you do not have to improve any skills to hit any harder.

Andre Griffin, a game designer says "While skills are less character-altering than feats, they are still an important part of character development, For example most spell-using classes will want to invest heavily in the Casting concentration skill or Age of Conan Strategy to avoid interruptions as much as possible, while player-versus-player players will want to invest in the Perception skill so you are less likely to be ambushed.”
